Situated in the sweet spot between Lake Michigan and Green Bay, Door County is a great place for Wisconsin winter vacation.

While the city is more popular to visit during the summer, there are also various things to do in Door County in winter.

Peninsula State Park in Door County offers a lot of outdoor activities, from cross-country skiing to candle-lit winter hiking.

The state park has 20 miles of trails that you can opt to enjoy the snow as a part of the exercise, which makes it one of the most fun places to visit in Wisconsin in winter!

In my opinion, one of the best winter weekend getaways in Wisconsin is Sturgeon Bay, a top Door County destination.

There are a lot of amazing things to do in Sturgeon Bay in winter that you don’t want to miss out on.

Head southeast to Lake Geneva, one of my favorite places to visit in winter in Wisconsin. Here you can find some of the best winter resorts in Wisconsin.

The area offers various activities for all types of travelers, whether you want to go skiing or prefer relaxing while enjoying their spa facilities.

At the end of January, Lake Geneva usually hosts its famous Winterfest, where the city welcomes the best ice sculptors across the United States to showcase their masterpieces.

This is easily one of the best things to do in Lake Geneva in winter and one of my favorite winter events in Wisconsin.

You can admire their artwork along the shore of Geneva Lake for free and also participate in some of the best activities for winter in Wisconsin!

As the largest city in Wisconsin, Milwaukee gets into the festive spirit with dazzling holiday lights and decorations throughout the city in the winter.

Every year, the city hosts the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival, which lasts for six weeks from November to January.

Head to Red Arrow Park in downtown Milwaukee, which transforms into an outdoor ice skating rink during the winter.

Despite being a popular destination in the summer, Wisconsin Dells is also considered one of the best Wisconsin winter destinations as the city offers various activities for all types of travelers.

There are a lot of great winter resorts in Wisconsin Dells that the whole family can enjoy. But If staying at a resort isn’t your thing, there are plenty of cozy winter cabins you can opt for instead.
