Boat trips in Tenerife: 8 Best Tours

Want to explore Tenerife from the sea? Here are the best boat trips in Tenerife!

One of the main reasons why so many people travel Tenerife is its wide variety of ocean activities, including boat tours.

It offers many boat trips, including themed rides, parascending adventures, relaxing catamaran trips, and even boat parties!

Yup— when it comes to enjoying a day out in the ocean, Tenerife is second to none in offering the best options to travelers and tourists.

I’ve been on over a dozen boat trips in Tenerife since I lived on the island alongside the locals for a few years.

Some of these tours were just as expected, and a few were disappointing, but the boat tours were so memorable that I still vividly remember how I felt on each one!

Overview: Best Boat Trips in Tenerife

1. Tenerife South: Parascending Experience with Boat Ride

⭐️ RATING: 4.8 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 1 hour | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

This parascending tour was one of the first boat trips I tried in Tenerife.

Just by the name itself, it’s obvious that this tour isn’t your typical ride-a-boat trip.

It combines the thrilling adrenaline rush of 100 meters in the air with the gorgeous ocean views you’ll usually only see through boating!

Enjoy an adventurous activity with relaxing scenery!

Before and after the 10-minute flight experience, you’ll also have fun riding the speed boat and taking a dip to swim in the ocean!

This boat trip is really one of the best things to do in South Tenerife. The views and atmosphere are perfect for a flight experience.

Now, when parasailing, safety is usually the main concern for people.

However, you’ll feel safe on this boat trip, just like I did!

All the life jackets, harnesses, and ropes are checked before tours start. Plus, the staff gives a thorough safety briefing before your flight!

After the ride, you’ll be allowed to purchase photos and videos the staff took on your behalf during your flight.

We had no choice but to purchase ours, as they were so cute and funny!

This tour is one of the most thrilling boat trips in Tenerife!

2. Los Cristianos: Eco-Yacht Whale Watching Cruise with Swim

⭐️ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 2 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

If you want a boat trip that offers relaxation, comfort, and a guaranteed good time from start to finish, you can’t go wrong with booking this Los Cristianos whale-watching cruise.

From the get-go, this tour immediately felt like one of the best trips in Tenerife.

The boat was well-maintained, the staff was smiling and friendly, and everyone’s needs were accommodated quickly.

Also, you’d think this cruise would be solely for whale watching, right?

But wrong. Surprisingly, we also saw bottlenose dolphins, hammerhead sharks, turtles, and even crabs!

The staff also kindly shared cool facts about Tenerife‘s marine life, which made the experience even more enlightening!

By the way, when planning what to wear in Tenerife, bag up a couple of swimwear options as well.

Like the previous boat trip in Tenerife, this eco-friendly whale-watching cruise also gives you time to swim!

The waves are a little rough at times, which can feel unsettling. But there is nothing a few sea sickness tablets can’t fix, right?

Note: This cruise takes pride in being a sustainable, eco-friendly operator. It avoids direct harm to marine life and rescues in-danger animals along the way.

3. Costa Adeje: Whale & Dolphin Eco-Cruise with Snacks & Drinks

⭐️ RATING: 4.6 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 3-5 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

Now, let’s talk about one of the most popular boat trips in Tenerife Costa Adeje.

If you’re a fan of longer cruises, this 3-hour boat trip is an ideal option!

Throughout this trip, you will not only enjoy seeing marine life dancing in and out of the waters but also have a blast listening to music and snacking on delicious snacks and drinks!

As expected, this cruise is also very eco-friendly. Anytime our boat spotted marine life, the engine was shut off, so no creatures were ever disturbed.

Oh, and the views?

If you join one of these boat trips in Tenerife Playa de las Americas is just one of the many gorgeous beaches you’ll easily come across.

You’ll also find Playa de los Cristianos and spot Mount Teide.

I’m sure those names alone will shout volumes about how picturesque the tour will be!

Trust me, 3 hours can still feel very short while you’re on this tour.

So, if you want to explore more, book the extended 5-hour tour like we did!

The extra two hours are perfect for exploring the coastline of Tenerife, including the stunning cliffs at Los Gigantes, and enjoying onboard lunch with rice and chicken!

This tour is really one of the best things to do in Costa Adeje. I’ll be sure to do this again next time!

4. Whales and Dolphin-Watching Viking Cruise

⭐️ RATING: 4.6 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 2 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

Boating day trips in Tenerife are already fun and exciting, but do you know what makes them even better?

I am riding a Viking-themed boat!

This cruise is often dubbed as one of the best things to do in Tenerife with kids. But we enjoyed it to the fullest extent as adults.

The unique structure provides plenty of photo opportunities, and seeing some kids dressed in Viking-era clothes with face painting just made the entire experience a blast!

Of course, out in the ocean, you’ll also find dolphins and whales going about their day.

The first guest who spotted whales was given a prize (I hoped that was me, lol).

I thought that was because whale sightings were rare, but nope!

Some pilot whales and dolphins swam very closely to the boat, so my gallery was brimming with amazing marine life pictures during this tour!

We had an amazing time on this cruise, purchasing food and drinks nonstop while enjoying the lovely music selection! I highly recommend this boat trip in Tenerife

5. Los Gigantes: Dolphin and Whale Watching Tour with Drinks

⭐️ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 2-3 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

When my German friend came to visit me, it was hard to find boat excursions in Tenerife with German-speaking guides.

Luckily, we eventually found this whale-watching tour, which is easily one of the best multilingual boat trips from Los Gigantes.

The tour accommodates English, French, German, and Spanish languages, way more than what most boat trips from Tenerife offer!

Unfortunately, we didn’t see many whales, but according to the staff, there are usually more sightings.

There were many dolphins, though, so we were still very satisfied with the tour!

It was also very easy to enjoy the views of the coastline cliffs since the boat’s huge size made it a no-brainer to move from one area to another.

Just before the paella lunch is served, you’ll have time to enjoy a quick dip in the ocean and play on the boat’s trapeze!

This boat tour is one of the best things to do in Los Gigantes, so don’t miss out if you’re in the area!

6. Catamaran Cruise with Brunch and Unlimited Drinks

⭐️ RATING: 4.5 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 3-4 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

Craving a luxurious and leisurely half-day getaway?

Join this catamaran cruise, and you won’t be disappointed!

Of all the tours we joined, this tour felt the most romantic, making it perfect for couples.

I totally fell in love with the boat’s open deck, where we spent most of our time lounging and enjoying the view of dolphins and whales having the time of their life.

The food? Amazing!

The brunch is 100% Canarian, made only using local ingredients, and soda and beers are 100% free!

You can also order wine with charcuterie boards separately to enhance the tour’s luxury feel.

Like most boat trips, this cruise navigates the coastlines of the best beaches in South Tenerife and has an hour-long swimming stop at Diego Hernandez Beach.

Kudos to the crew members who took the initiative to make our experience as great as possible. They offered to take our pictures in several locations, so we took home many amazing pictures!

For us, this tour was undoubtedly one of the best things to do in Tenerife in May. I’m sure, though, that it’ll be just as great in other months of the year!

7. Sunset Catamaran Tour with Transfer, Buffet & Drinks

a boat cruising on the sea during a sunset

⭐️ RATING: 4.8 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 3 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

Speaking of a catamaran cruise, I just got reminded of my amazing time in Tenerife in October when we hopped on this sunset catamaran tour.

Sunsets and oceans are a match made in paradise.

And the pair just gets better when you’re on a spacious catamaran that serves local tapas and beverages while you spot whales and dolphins!

Honestly, though, the free snack felt more like a meal.

There were omelets, bread, cold meats, cheese, and the list goes on!

We really adored Laura, the hostess, as she was very kind and accommodating.

Throughout the trip, she made sure everyone in our group was as comfortable as possible, serving drinks, giving away blankets, and offering to take our pictures.

Honestly, the food and hotel pickup on this tour alone were well worth the price.

So, the fact that you can also enjoy several hours in a stunning catamaran and witness a breathtaking sunset makes this trip worth much more than the price!

8. Boat Party with Open Bar and DJs

⭐️ RATING: 4.2 out of 5 Stars | ⏳ TOUR LENGTH: 3 hours | ⭐️ BOOK NOW

What is Tenerife famous for besides its beaches, unique weather, and marine life?

It’s parties and nightlife, of course!

So, why settle for just partying on land when you can join boat parties in Tenerife?

This boat party with an open bar and DJs was our most memorable boat trip on the island.

It starts with a pre-party at a café on land to get you in the party mood, and once you hop on board, that’s where the madness begins!

The music, ranging across all genres, is blasted the entire time by the UK’s best house DJs and MCs.

Once the boat anchors, feel free to hop off into the ocean and continue partying or swimming, whichever you feel like doing!

This cruise offers everything you could imagine from a top-tier boat party.

The only downside is the slightly long waiting time at the café. We spent nearly 2 hours before boarding the boat as they tried to ensure we met the required numbers.

We immediately forgot about our long waiting time, though, once we started the festivities on the boat!

This is one of the best boat trips in Tenerife!

My final thoughts on boat tours in Tenerife

Whether you want to join an exciting cruise, ride thrilling rides, or spend the afternoon in a catamaran that feels like a private boat tour Tenerife’s boat tours have you covered.

This island has abundant stunning coastlines, vibrant marine life, and mild summer-like weather.

Not to mention, the best beaches in Tenerife are also some of the best in the world!

So, all year long, you can enjoy boat tours in Tenerife to the full extent!

These tours will always be some of the best outdoor activities in Tenerife

To make your visit to Tenerife as memorable as possible, make sure to book at least one of the boat trips!
