Overview: Top Wineries Near Wisconsin Dells

1. Narrows Creek Winery

Location: Longanville, WI

Established in 2017, this small but charming family-owned winery specializes in unique fruit wines (loved their mango-flavored ones).

Sure, it might not be as popular as the other wineries in Wisconsin Dells, WI.

But, for the reasons I’ll state below, it is the best winery in Wisconsin Dells for me and many others!

See, unlike mainstream wineries in Downtown Dells, Narrows Creek Winery has a more quiet, peaceful vibe, being on an off-the-beaten-path and all.

And since it’s still a relatively small winery, you’ll also get to talk with the owners themselves one-on-one!

Price-wise, this winery also hits the checkmark of being budget-friendly.

Our $5 allowed us to taste 12 different wines. And, of course, the bottles themselves were reasonably priced. It was well worth the half-hour drive from the city.

2. Fawn Creek Winery

Location: Wisconsin Dells, WI

If you want to relish a good glass of wine without driving too far from the Dells, I recommend visiting the Fawn Creek Winery– Wisconsin Dells’ very popular wine stop.

Despite being pretty secluded in the woods, this winery is anything but isolated.

Quietly, this winery hosts live music from local performers, and during these community events, its wide seating areas can still get pretty crowded.

Aside from the amazing atmosphere of the winery, I was also very pleased to pay only $5 for the wine tasting, which included all 12 wines offered by the winery and two slushies.

Totally loved their fruit wines (not too sweet) that paired well with the pretzels we ordered.

Prefer dry wine over sweet? Just a short drive from Fawn Creek Winery, you’ll also find the Prairie Hawk Winery, Wisconsin Dells.

It’s one of the best breweries near Wisconsin Dells when it comes to offering a wide wine selection, including dry options.

After doing wine tours, you can surely enjoy trolley tours in Wisconsin Dells.

3. Baraboo Bluff Winery

Location: Baraboo, WI

Baraboo is one of my favorite cities near Wisconsin Dells.

Luckily, it’s also home to the most scenic winery near Wisconsin Dells, WI, which is the Baraboo Bluff Winery.

As we walked to this winery from its parking lot, every single one of us was in awe of the panoramic views of nature and vineyards surrounding the area. It felt like we were already hiking in Wisconsin Dells’ best trails.

It looks like a postcard brought to life—the perfect summer winery for nature lovers.

When we entered the building, the tasting room also had a very relaxing vibe (thanks to the very kind ladies behind the counters).

But, of course, we didn’t miss out on the chance to enjoy wine outdoors, so we immediately grabbed a table outside once we chose a bottle.

Visiting during the colder months?

I still highly recommend visiting this winery, as it’s near Mirror Lake State Park, which has some of the best things to do in Wisconsin Dells in winter

4. Balanced Rock Winery

Location: Baraboo, WI

From the moment I saw Balanced Rock Winery’s building for the first time, I knew that it was going to be one of the best wineries among the towns near Wisconsin Dells.

Let me tell you, I couldn’t have been more right.

Great aesthetics, good music, amazing food, and a superb wine selection—this winery has it all.

Inside, the building looks very modern and chic. Outdoors, you’ll be hugged by the vast blue skies and the glimpses of nearby forestry.

But, aside from the view, the wine and food of this winery easily won our hearts!

We first ordered the $15 flight that included four pours. A bit expensive, if I’m honest, but all the wines were delicious, so I can’t really complain.

Then, after we decided on our favorite bottle, we also ordered a charcuterie board, which far exceeded my expectations.

Totally loved the restaurant-like plating and the variety of cheeses, cured meats, and nuts.

If you wanna have romantic getaways in Wisconsin Dells, you should really visit this winery. You could also check out Baraboo cabins if you wish to stay!

5. Wollersheim Winery & Distillery

Location: Prairie du Sac, WI

Wollersheim Winery & Distillery is not just one of the best breweries in Wisconsin Dells, it’s also a popular winery.

But it’s more than just regular wineries and distilleries where you can try flights of wine or beer and enjoy good food.

See, Wollersheim Winery & Distillery offers an entire experience.

It has guided walking tours that’ll allow you to visit its vast vineyards, historic buildings, and even wine cellars while enjoying your glass of wine.

If you just want to enjoy wine in the tasting room and tour the place on your own later, that also works!

Visiting this winery is 100% one of the most fun things to do in Wisconsin Dells.

Conveniently, it’s also just a short drive away from some waterfalls near Wisconsin Dells, so you can take a trip to one of these natural wonders before or after your wine stop.

6. Neil’s Wine House

Location: St. Portage, WI

Located in a 120-year-old (previously) residential home, Neil’s Wine House currently stands as one of the best wineries near Wisconsin Dells, WI.

Yes, it still looks like a cozy home on the outside.

But step inside, and you’ll be welcomed by a lively winery that’s as popular for its food as it is for its wines!

Despite the small space, this winery has a massive drink selection, including bourbon, rye, cocktails, whiskey, and, of course, wine.

Its food menu is also comparable to that of a restaurant. We ordered the shrimp cocktail and crab cakes as appetizers and wrapped up dinner with pan-seared salmon and steaks.

I highly recommend this spot, especially during special occasions, as you won’t be let down!

7. Von Klaus Winery

Location: Baraboo, WI

For fruit wine lovers, Von Klaus Winery is easily gonna one of the best wineries around Wisconsin Dells.

Apart from grapes, this winery makes wines from fruits like cranberry, blackberry, apple, and blueberries!

I’ve never walked away from this winery without bringing home a handful of bottles.

Because, yup– the owners are that good at the craft!

Besides the wines themselves, I also fell in love with the atmosphere of this winery.

The staff are always very welcoming, the interior strikes a perfect middle ground between modern and vintage, and the owners are always more than happy to share the stories behind their winery!

8. Broken Bottle Winery

Location: Wisconsin Dells

The Broken Bottle Winery oddly felt very familiar during my first-ever visit.

Turns out, it’s actually a sister company of the Baraboo Bluff Winery (3rd on this list).

Both are owned by the same family, who, pretty obviously, seem to be very fond of nature.

Just like Baraboo Bluff Winery, the Broken Bottle Winery is surrounded by lush greens and offers amazing outdoor seating options.

The prices at this location are also pretty decent, with the $7 flight already including 4 dry and 4 sweet wines. Ordering this flight is really among the cheap things to do in Wisconsin Dells.

As expected, like most wineries in Wisconsin Dells area, this winery focuses more on fruity wines. However, the few dry ones they offered were also pretty good.

9. Rock N Wool Winery

Location: Poynette, WI

Rock N Wool Winery is situated in a barn that was built over 100 years ago.

So, if you love unique experiences or wineries in rural settings, this winery is a must-visit!

I’ve been here a few times already, with the first time being by pure chance.

But when we visited the third time, I made sure to do so during one of the mini-events that are frequently held by Rock N Wool!

We attended the winery’s “murder mystery night,” which lasted for well over 2 hours.

The first glass of wine was complimentary, everybody was friendly, and the pizza was absolutely amazing!

I also loved the rustic atmosphere inside the barn itself.

Nothing but pure praises for this winery. So, I will totally keep coming back here whenever I’m looking for wineries near Wisconsin Dells.

10. Drumlin Ridge Winery

Location: Waunakee, WI

Behind Drumlin Ridge Winery’s very discreet road sign lies a winery with actually a very big personality.

Inside the winery’s modern building, I fell absolutely in love with the inviting atmosphere.

The high wooden ceiling, large wood barrels, vintage furniture, and brick fireplace all made it feel cozy (like grandma’s loving kitchen).

There were lots of outdoor seating as well, which I usually prefer, but I simply couldn’t pass up the chance to take amazing pictures inside the winery itself!

If you’re a fan of minimalist buildings and color palettes, this winery will be right up your alley. A perfect spot for social media pictures, I gotta say.

To be honest, some of the wines here failed my expectations (specifically the dry wines).

But as always, Wisconsin wineries never disappoint when it comes to fruit wines.

I highly recommend the cranberry blush (it’s pretty obvious why it’s an award-winning wine).

Tips for Visiting Wineries near Wisconsin Dells

Want to have the best time visiting the wineries near Wisconsin Dells? Keep these tips in mind!

Tip 1: Try Flights or Ask the Experts

If you’re unsure of which wine to buy, consider ordering a flight to find what suits your preferences.

Or, simply ask the winery’s staff for recommendations, as they’ll be more than happy to help you choose the perfect bottle.

Don’t be too shy. We can’t be all experts at wine from the get-go.

Tip 2: Plan in Advance

Are you planning to sip several glasses of wine to unwind, or are you gearing up for a full-blown night out with friends?

Depending on your plans, you might want to choose your winery wisely.

When I know I’ll be enjoying wine for hours, I prefer a winery close to my accommodation. It’s much more convenient and safer that way.

Fortunately, Wisconsin Dells offers a range of excellent accommodations

There are various luxury cabins in Wisconsin Dells if you want the ultimate relaxation.

Plus, many dog-friendly cabins in Wisconsin Dells are located near wineries, so you can also enjoy your wine travels with your furry friend!

Tip 3: Research Before Visiting

Know the winery’s specialty wines, usual crowd, and overall vibe before visiting. Some say this can “remove the fun” from the experience.

But I personally think this approach ensures you’ll always visit wineries that offer the types of wines you love, match your preferred atmosphere, and are neither too noisy nor too quiet for your taste.
