For adrenaline enthusiasts seeking a vibrant base, Playa de las Américas stands out as the ultimate haven in Tenerife South.

I love how dynamic this coastal location is, making it one of the best areas to stay Tenerife.

During my trip, I enjoyed plenty of exciting activities, with my favorite being windsurfing and the Atlantic Ocean as a playground!

This area has many great Tenerife all-inclusive adults-only hotels, making it particularly appealing to groups of friends.

If you’re not a watersports fan, don’t worry; there are plenty of other things to do in South Tenerife.

I recommend the hiking trails; you’ll be treated to some of the best views in Tenerife.

My go-to trail is Mount Teide. It’s the highest peak in the country, so it isn’t for the faint-hearted, but boy, it’s worth the effort!

Luxury Accommodations in Tenerife South: Golf del Sur

one of the best places where to stay in Tenerife in February seen from above with pool areas overlooking the sea

For luxury seekers, Golf del Sur is one of the most luxurious areas to stay in Tenerife. I can’t emphasize the range of amenities enough here.

If you’re wondering what resorts are in South Tenerife with an on-site spa, you’ll have no problem here.

Not to mention, Golf del Sur is in a prime location with many family hotels in Tenerife, endless beaches, and stunning vistas of the Canary Islands’ vast landscapes.

When I visited last time, I spent many hours enjoying the views from my balcony!

If you are a golfing fan, you will be in your element; I can’t say I play golf too much, but I did enjoy taking the course with a few friends.

Summertime in this area of Tenerife is particularly special, with gorgeous sunsets and local restaurants serving freshly caught fish and accompanying wine.

Golf del Sur is the best location in Tenerife for those who enjoy the finer things in life.

Best Area for Quiet or Peaceful Retreat: El Médano

Top beaches South Tenerife has to offer, Clear sea waters lapping lazily on the shores of a yellow sandy beach with a tall pointed hill in the distance all under a bright blue sky with some white fluffy clouds

Finally, if you travel for a peaceful retreat and want to find the best resorts in South Tenerife, you’re likely wondering where to stay.

I suggest El Médano for so many reasons!

With its beautiful coastline and stunning views, El Médano has a naturally serene ambiance, making it ideal for introspection, long walks, and soaking up the vibes.

For indulgent relaxation experiences, I’d recommend staying in one of the many spa resorts, where you can book a lengthy massage to unwind.

If you enjoy the sea, there is also the opportunity to go kayaking, which I find very peaceful.

El Médano offers so many restaurants serving local cuisine, especially seafood. There are shops to explore and the lovely Old Town.

Tips for Choosing Accommodation

Now that we’re coming to the end of my guide on where to stay in Tenerife South, I wanted to offer some extra tips and insights to help you find the best accommodation.

Here are some factors to consider:

  • Your budget – first and foremost, begin your search with a realistic budget. Think about how you’d like to spend your time; for example, if you want to explore more, you may be better suited to basic accommodation.
  • Accommodation type – if you’re the type of person who wants an all-inclusive holiday, factor this into your decision. On the other hand, if you don’t mind catering for yourself, think about what will work best.
  • Location is everything! – in my experience, finding the right location is key. You need to think ahead regarding transportation and access to attractions.

My final thoughts on where to stay in Tenerife South
