All prints are wrapped with acid-free tissue paper and placed in a polyethylene bag. Most prints are shipped in a rigid flat cardboard mailer. Larger prints and standard international shipments may be rolled up and shipped in a heavy duty mailing tube in order to meet shipping restrictions for some locations or services.

Please contact me immediately for a free replacement (including for custom orders). I may ask you to send photos of the damage to the print and packaging and/or to return the damaged print at my expense before I ship your replacement.

Damaged orders are eligible for replacement only, not refunds. If you would like a refund instead, the normal return policy applies (buyer is responsible for return shipping). Please contact me ahead of time to explain your situation and make sure that I will accept the return.

The lifespans of photographic prints vary wildly with the type of print, how it's displayed/stored, and even the climate and air quality. As a result, I cannot guarantee the longevity of any print. The following numbers are for a rough comparison only.

Standard (Silver Halide)
20-40 years if framed under glass and hung away from bright sunlight. Some companies claim 100 years, but this is based on lenient, non-standard testing conditions.

Pigment Inkjet
70-100 years if framed under glass and hung away from bright sunlight, 130-200 years under UV glass, or over 250 in dark storage.

Metal Prints
No independent data. Manufacturer testing suggests 2-4 times longer than silver halide.

The best thing you can do for a print you want to display is to have it professionally framed under glass. The glass helps to protect the image from ultraviolet light and airborne reactants and contaminants, nearly doubling the life of the print.

Glass with a high-quality UV coating offers the most protection, and can further double the life of certain types of prints compared to normal glass. Consider using it if you are going to hang your print in place with a lot of natural or halogen light or if you have purchased an inkjet print and want it to last for generations.

More detailed care instructions will be included with your prints.

You may also consider a black and white inkjet print, as fading and color shifting is less noticeable.

I do my best to make sure that my photos accurately represent that scenes they depict. I occasionally crop an image to improve its composition and I generally remove perspective and lens distortion from architectural photos, but I do not artificially enhance the color or contrast of any image and I do not add or remove anything in Photoshop (other than dust spots).

Since digital cameras process images differently from humans, all images must undergo some post-processing. I adjust the color and tone curve of the image to more closely match my perception of the scene. This usually involves mapping the darkest shadows to black and the lightest highlights to white.

Matte photographic paper does not have the same range of tones as other papers. Blacks tend to look more gray, so the image loses much of its depth. Luster paper provides much deeper blacks without the glare of glossy paper. Alternatively, matte papers used for inkjet prints have a completely different construction and offer a tonal range comparable to luster paper.

Odd sizes - I can print almost any size you'd like up to the resolution limit of the photo. Keep in mind that anything other than 2:3 aspect ratio (for most images) will need to be cropped and may not be possible at all for some images.

Other media – Metal prints are available in my shop via a special listing (www.etsy.me/2QCxR17). Prints on maple plywood blocks, loose canvas, and gallery wrapped canvas are available as a custom order. It may be possible to print on other surfaces as well.
